Terrific start, great boat speed over the line on the favored side of the line. Upwind leg, choose the right side of the course, which turned out to be the wrong side. The current was kicking. We got killed on the upwind leg, but great boat speed downwind. 3rd entering the leeward mark, but the current go the best of us (well me I was at the helm) and I bumped the mark. The 360 killed us with the wind dying and the current kickin’. Unfortunately we took 7th.
Race 2:Race two was the highlight of the night. We were late to the line, as was half the fleet, as the wind completely died. This time however we chose the left side of the course while most of the fleet took the right side. We had great boat speed and got lifted like crazy on the upwind legs. First around the first upwind leg, first around the first downwind leg…first around every mark and the finish. Man it does it feel great to take a bullet.
Race 3:Race three was a crazy ride. The wind completely died, and I mean completely. We were in third place approaching the finish, when the wind just disappeared. That’s when the current started pushing us backward, I mean backward. When the wind finally came back, the boat behind us got the wind first, and we ended up in 4th.
