Fixed and Racing
Fixed the tiller extension, replaced the main and jib sheets, and got my uncle to crew for the next round Menemsha racing. Took two firsts in our first day of racing together, and two thirds in our second day of racing.
Had an amazing start on our last race and led for a lot of the race, but then sailed to low on the downwind leg and got passed by a Mariner and a 470. I should have sailed high and cover, but didn’t. On the final upwind leg, I made up a bunch of distance, and ended 2 boat lengths behind. Live and learn.
The wind is pretty consistent on Menemsha Pond, out of the SW. It was kick 15-20 on day and 5-10 on the second day with a fun squall that blew through.
I head off island now for a few weeks. In August my uncle and I will be racing on his cat boat, “Sweet” for the August series of Menemsha races. Stay tuned!!!
