I also had my Dyer Dink dinghy cleaned up. All the wood sanded and varnished and she also looks brand new.

With the lettering and name officially on, we performed the official naming ceremony for the Three Sisters with champagne and dedications to the winds gods. My family and I went on a beautiful sail on Menemsha Pond, and then spent a few hours having lunch and swimming off the boat. Of course no boat blog entry can really be complete without some mishaps. While sailing I forgot to put a stopper knot in the center board line, and of course the line slipped past the block, down through the centerboard trunk, and into the drink. This was the first time I had to re-thread the centerboard line. This entailed diving under the boat, grabbing the line and bringing it to the deck. I then dropped a new line through the block and through the centerboard trunk, and dove under again and brought it up to the deck as well. Finally I whipped the two lines together and pulled the the original line back through the trunk. The other stupid thing I did was drop the damn bottom part of my swim latter of f the stern while trying to attach it to the stern. I always tie a line to things like an engine when moving it around on a boat, but for some damn reason I forgot to with the ladder. At first I freaked out because I couldn’t see the ladder in the water, but I waited for low tide, saw it, and dove down and got it. So 2014 is off to a great start, and Menemsha Pond racing starts tomorrow, July 5th.
